Overview
Activate offers full-day camps for upper elementary students. Each week has a different focus. We call this the workshop. This summer’s workshops are Graphic Design, Photography, Animation, Music Production, Printmaking, and Engineering. In the summer of 2024, we are adding an optional 60 minutes of literacy instruction to every morning of camp. We’ll also swim three times a week, play at the local park, and have plenty of time for what we call Free Explore.
The Camp Assistant Program is for incoming 7th and 8th graders. Assistants play with kids and help with projects. Additionally, they go swimming and do most of the projects if they want.
Tuition and Times
Consistent with other ‘Counselor in Training’ programs, assistants pay tuition.
$225 Per Week
Drop Off: 8:45-9:00
Pick Up: 4:00
Benefits
Assistants build leadership skills.
Assistants learn job skills.
Assistants can add Activate to their future job applications.
Assistants can use Activate for future job references.
Assistants do most art projects alongside the campers.
Assistants partake in field trips and other fun activities.
Some assistants eventually receive paid work from Activate.
Assistants get to remain connected to the Activate community.
The Criteria
Assistants must be going into 7th or 8th grade.
Assistants must be available most of the week, from 8:45-4:00. We understand that they occasionally might have to leave early because of extracurricular obligations.
Assistants are required to attend an orientation meeting in the late spring.
Assistants are required to ride in the passenger seat on field trips.
