Milk Jug Survey Form
Milk Jug Boat Race
Every summer, there is a milk jug boat race at Westmoreland Park. I want Activate to participate this year if I can get enough parent support. It'll be a great way to study math and engineering, provide good community exposure for Activate, and have fun!
Check out this news clip if you don't know about the event.

The race is on June 22 and is sponsored by the Royal Rosarians. There is a lot of information about the event on their website.

The plan is to integrate boat engineering into our math block during the last few weeks of school. I'll split the class up into four groups, and each group will construct a boat.
I want to recruit a few parents to help with the building during the week of 5/26 from 9:00-10:00.
During the last week of school, I'll need four families to volunteer to transport and store their child's team's boat at their homes and transport it on the event day. The boats will be about four feet wide and up to eight feet long (a four-foot-wide boat can fit in the Activate minivan, so I assume it can fit in most minivans with the seats down). We can't keep them at Activate because we need the space for the end-of-year exhibition/graduation and summer camp.
All current students can participate by riding in the boat or cheering on their team. Kids paddling boats will need life jackets and paddles. If you don't own a life jacket and/or paddle, I assume other community parents can loan you these items.
I've created a brief survey to determine the number of students who can participate, who can store boats, and other details.
